MAGNETISM AND SUPERCONDUCTIVITY
LABORATORY
The research activities of the superconductivity
and magnetism group are focused on the magnetic
and transport properties of a variety of magnetic
materials and high Tc superconductors. Our
current interests include the dc and ac magnetization
and magneto-resistance in the Colossal Magneto
resistance compounds, and loss mechanisms
in the dynamic response of both Ferro magnets
and superconductors. We are also studying
the magnetic properties of nano-particle systems
to identify the effects of surfaces on the
magnetic response.
RESEARCH FACILITIES:
DC and AC magnetometer facilities including
Vibrating Sample Magnetometer (VSM), Lock-In-Amplifiers
and Signal Analyzer.
X-ray Diffractometer for both single crystal
and powder pattern studies.
2T Electromagnet compatible with VSM; Cryostats,
vacuum systems etc.
Sample Preparation Facilities.
FUTURE INTERESTS
Development of Thin Film coating facility
for preparation of Magnetic and Hard materials
with industrial applications. (Proposal Submitted
to M.O.S.T.) |
