ATOMIC
AND MOLECULAR PHYSICS LABORATORY
This laboratory is
equipped with the following experimental facilities;
1. a) Nd: YAG Laser GCR-11 (275 mJ, 10 ns)
and Narrow bandwidth Dye-lasers 2. a) Nd:
YAG Laser BRILLIENT (850 mJ, 10 ns) Quantel,
France b) Lambda Physik dye laser 3. Atomic
beam apparatus and Thermionic diode ion detector
4. Laser Optogalvanic setup 5. 3-meter spectrograph
(locally fabricated): 6. 1-meter monochromator
to study the photo dissociation processes.
CURRENT RESEARCH ACTIVITIES
a) High resolution photo absorption spectra of atoms involving inner shell excitations.
b) Multichannel quantum defect theory for the inter channel interactions investigation.
c) Double excitation and photo ionization processes.
d) Laser spectroscopy of Rydberg Atoms.
e) Laser induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS).
FUTURE INTERESTS
High-resolution laser spectroscopic Laser cooling and trapping. Laser induced hyperfine structure studies. Isotopic shift and enrichment studies. Time of Flight setup. Laser produced plasma.
