Applications are invited from Pakistani nationals residing in Pakistan or abroad for the award of Post-Doctoral Research & Teaching Fellowships in the fields as indicated below:-

Anthropology Biology Administrative sciences
Chemistry Computer Sciences Defense and Strategic Studies
Earth Sciences Economics History
Information Technology International Relations Mathematics
Area Study centre Physics Political Studies
Statistics Electronics Psychology


The purpose of the award of Fellowship is to enable the scholars to undertake research in any branch of Natural & Social Sciences in teaching departments/Institutes/Centres of the University.
The conditions for the applicants of Post-Doctoral Research & Teaching Fellowships are as follows:-
a) Applicants must hold a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in the relevant fields.
b) Applicants are required to submit abstracts of their final dissertations or of their Ph.D. theses plus a statement of their reasons for applying for Fellowship.
c) Application may be submitted on a plain paper alongwith details of academic qualifications, research experience and publications alongwith a recommendation from the head of the organization where the person is engaged/employed. The application must include a summary of the research project, the applicant wishes to pursue at the University.
d) Post-Doctoral Fellowship will be awarded initially for a period of one year extendable for a further period of one year on the recommendations of the Chairman, Dean of the Faculty and approved by the Advanced Studies & Research Board . The Post-Doctoral Fellow is required to publish at least one research paper per year in the relevant field in an international reputed/abstracted journal or monograph, or proceedings of international conference.
e) The awardee has to execute a bond with the University initially for a period of one year.

FINANCIAL SUPPORT

i) The awardee will be entitled to receive, RS.12,OOO/- per month (consolidated).
ii) The awardee will be entitled to a sum of RS.25,OOO/- for research support/field work per year.
iii) The awardee will receive the reimbursement of air ticket (economy class) for International or national travel from the place of residence to Islamabad or by rail in Ist Class ACC .
iv) The awardee will not be entitled to undertake other work outside the University paid or unpaid during the grant period without the permission of the Vice-Chancellor.
The last date for receipt of applications in the office of the Registrar, Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad is 25.2.2005, extendable by 15days for Pakistan nationals serving/residing abroad. The candidates can also

Incomplete applications will not be considered.
The decision of the Vice-Chancellor regarding the award of Post-Doctoral Research & Teaching Fellowships will be final and no representation etc. will be entertained .
