One day workshop on ‘Describing Languages by using FLEx’ organized by department of Linguistics

A workshop on June 24, 2015 was organized by the department of linguistics Quaid-i-Azam university. The objective of the workshop was to train the faculty members and young linguists to manage linguistic and cultural data in order to document the undocumented languages especially in the context of Pakistan.

Prof. Dr. Sadaf Munchi from Department of Linguistics, New Taxis University, USA conducted the workshop. The participants were trained through Fieldwork software FLEx in order to manage linguistic data and research work on language documentation. Moreover, the participants were also trained to use a variety of software tools to gather and publish their data.

The workshop was attended by the faculty members from department of linguistics Quaid-i-Azam University, NUML and Air University along with the other participants.

In the concluding session, Dean Faculty of Social Science, Professor Dr. Aliya H Khan lauded the efforts of the organizers for initiating a demanding workshop on the documentation of languages in Pakistan.
