Overseas Scholarship for Ph.D in Selected Fields (Phase-II)

Applications are invited for the award of fully funded Ph.D. level Scholarship in the fields of Natural Sciences, Social Sciences and Biological Sciences under the Human Resources Development Program. The scholarships will be awarded in the leading Universities of European Countries France, Germany, Austria, Italy, Sweden Norway, Nethenands, Newzeland, Thailand & any other technologically advanced country identified by HEC.

ELIGIBILITY
The applicants are required to meet the following eligibility criteria:
a. Having minimum qualification of MS/M.Phil or equivalent
b. First Division in Master level degree or equivalent No 3rd Division or Grade ’D’ in academic career.
c. NTS score of 50or above (optional in case of MS/M.Phil degree from abroad and International GRE.)
d. Maximum age by the closing date for application: 35-years for fresh candidate and 40-years for faculty member on closing date i.e. 10-12-2009
e. Personas already availing any HEC/Government scholarship are NOT eligible to apply.
f. The applicant must submit GRE/GMAT score. GMAT score will be acceptable as per HEC policy/rules
g. The student already registered/enrolled for program leading to Ph.D in HEC identified institutions abroad will be preferred.
GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS & PROCEDURE

1. The application form may be obtained from the office of the Registrar. It is also available at website of the University i.e. www.qau.edu.pk. The application forms in triplicate, and the following attested documents fully binded, alongwith a crossed Postal Order of Rs.1000/- $50/- in case of applicant applying from abroad (Non refundable) drawn in favour of Treasurer Quaid-i-Azam University, should reach the Registrar by 10-12-2009.
i. Educational degrees/certificates.
ii. One page Statement of Purpose related to applicant’s aspirations to pursue higher studies in the particular field.
iii. Brief description of research interests.
iv. Three letters of reference from academic/research supervisors.
v. Copy of NTS result card.
vi. CV/RESUME,
vii. No Objection Certificate from the employer, in case of in service candidates. However, advance copies of application forms will be provisionally entertained.
2. Shortlisted candidates shall be invited for an interview with no TA/DA
3. External candidates if selected shall be offered research fellowship.
4. Faculty members, both the present and newly inducted, are required to complete all the admission requirements of the scholarship by the notified deadlines.
5. Scholarship award will cover full tuition fee, travel and maintenance allowance, as prescribed by QAU from time to time.
6. The selected scholars will have to avail the scholarships at the earliest.
7. Those selected will have to sign a bond of five years with the QAU for serving the University after completion of their studies abroad or will have to return the money in double spent on them
8. Any efforts to contact and influence QAU will disqualify the candidate.
9. Applications that are incomplete or received after due date will not be entertained.
10. The selected candidates will be governed by the Quaid-i-Azam University Service Statues and rules/regulations.
11. The University reserves the right to accept/reject any application without assigning reason.

Important Notes:

1. All scholarships will be awarded on open merit.
2. Confirmed and unconditional admission letters should clearly state that admission is in Ph.D.
3. Those who have already applied for the Overseas Scholarship in previous phases and have not been awarded Scholarship are required to re-apply.
4. In service candidate should apply through proper channel.
5. Funding for a maximum period of 04-years will be provided for higher Studies i.e. Ph.D. If a candidate spends more time than 4-years he/she will himself/herself bear the remaining expenses.
