The Department of International Relations started functioning in January 1973 offering M. Sc. degree in International Relations. Course revisions were undertaken in 1978, 1982, 1986, 1994 and 1999. As a result, Department now offers a vast variety of courses of contemporary elegance. It has also M. Phil. and Ph.D. programmes, which it started in 1986 and 1991 respectively.

With respect to the programme and the faculty, by maintaining a fairly high standard of research by importing quality teaching and training in the field of International Relations Department has earned a respectable place among national and international academic circles.

The performance of teachers is equally impressive. Not only the faculty members in national and international journals of repute published a large number of research articles but they also contributed extensively to the newspapers and the electronic media.
