The Department of Computer Science was established in 1976 at Quaid-i-Azam University Islamabad Pakistan.

The main objective of the establishment of this department was to produce computer scientists and Information Technology personnel in order to meet the growing demand for computer professionals in the country and to focus upon many challenging problems observed in the development and use of computers and computer based systems.

At Present, the department progressively offers M.Sc. and M.Phil degrees in Computer Science. The Department carefully selects the talented, research oriented MPhil Candidates in its Programme. Hopefully PhD programme in the Department will be started in Fall Semester 2008.

Two years ago(Spring 2006), Department of Computer Science started MPhil Programme. On February 27, 2008 two students

successfully defended their theses and were awarded A grade.

The M.Sc. degree Program of the department has been highly successful. Our graduates have attained higher degrees from developed countries and are working in very well reputed national and international organizations. So far we have produced largest number of computer science graduates in the country.
