Major achievements by NIPS during the current year (2008)

   
  • Completed Networking process & provided connections to all teachers, students' computer laboratory, Library and the offices.
       
  • The Institute is running Ph.D indigenous Programme of the Higher Education Commission, Islamabad. 04 Ph.D scholars are enrolled.
       
  • 01 Supervisors of the Institute have been registered for the indigenous programme by the Higher Education Commission
       
  • A car parking shed to accommodate 12 vehicles has been completed
       
  • A research journal called scrutiny will be launched soon.
       
  • Developd a database for National & International Experts for evaluation of Ph.D. thesis and hiring of faculty memebers.

    Linkages to other Research Organizations

    An agreement of cooperation was signed with the Summer Institute of Linguistics, United States of America in the Ministry of Education, Islamabad initially for a period of five years from August 1994 to September,1999 extendable that was signed by Mr.Munir Ahmad, Joint Educational Advisor, Ministry of Education, Islamabad Dr.Damoel G.Hallberg, Linguistic Consultant, Summer Institute of Linguistics,USA and the Director, National Institute of Pakistan Studies, Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad.

    The agreement was further extended with the concurrence of Ministry of Education for a period of two years commencing from September,1999 to August,2004.

    Now the SIL is doing research on Sociolinguistic survey of Punjabi during the extended period for two years upto August,2006.
