The Computer Centre is doing its best to automate work processes in different departments of the university. It has developed a number of Transaction Processing/ Computerized Information Systems such as Students Admission System, Examination System, Payroll System, Library Information System, Administrative System, Hostel Accommodation System (Boys and Girls Hostels) and

Accounting System for the University. These systems are successfully implemented in the concerned departments. The maintenance of the systems mentioned above is also responsibility of the centre. Computer Centre staff also provides support concerning maintenance of computer hardware/software to all departments in the University on their request. The Computer Centre helps research students in learning and using data-analysis tools for the analysis of their research work. At present, the Computer Centre has been developing other web-based applications for the dissemination of the required information to the students. The Computer Centre has also been engaged in providing consultancy services regarding computerization to Govt/Semi Govt organizations on their request.

Training
In order to promote computer literacy, the Computer Centre started Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) course in computer sciences in 1973. Since then, the Centre is playing its major role for the development of computer professionals/ IT workforce and proliferation of computer literacy in the country.

Presently, the Computer Centre offers PGD courses in “Information Technology”, “Computer Science”, and Short Term courses in “Computer Applications” in the evening program. The curriculum is tailored keeping in view the new trends in software design and development, database management systems, programming techniques, IT investments, business change, and IT applications and usage etc. The Computer Centre facilitates Govt/Semi Govt organizations by designing and running specialized IT related courses for their employees on their request.

The Computer Centre offers training courses for employees of the university to develop their skills to use office automation tools for their routine tasks, create awareness about how to install different software application packages and to deal with problems such as computer viruses, spam and spyware that ultimately affect normal everyday operation of the Personal Computers. The classrooms and computer labs are well equipped to meet the needs of the students. The services provided by the Computer Centre for the development of “Information Systems”, “IT related human resources”, and adoption of Information Technology in organizations should boost the economy at country level.
